ASSEMBLY FW16 NEW YORK: THE COLLECTION

This season, creative director Greg Armas decides to keep intimate for the presentation of his Assembly FW16 collection. Setting the show on a dark and mysterious ambience, the designer decided, by removing the security of the light, to rely on his audience other senses rather than view. The aim of this procedure was to sublimate garments giving them another dimension than purely visual. Senses of intuition and touch are tickled to guide our preferences, letting the audience experiencing the collection in a completely different way. Inspired by personal memories of a mismatch of lighter silk, crepe and cotton twill garments paired with furs and outwear in suède or alpaca, the Assembly collection is elegant but young and fresh. Oversized shapes and long jumpsuits and dresses are key in the collection. Tailored or in knitwear, they rather cover than discover the body without loosing its femininity and its sophisticated style. Gray, navy blue and black are the colors of the season, discrete and sober as much as it could be. Accessories are rare: a part from black fur stoles and cross-body small leather bags nothing is left to catch the eye other than garments. A whole collection experimenting with texture and material for the pleasure of the touch… and the eyes!
