JC DE CASTELBAJAC & PETIT BATEAU COLLABORATION

By Crash redaction

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is sailing away on a Petit Bateau cruise, and launches a recreational collection that will delight little ones as well as grown ups. Led by his eternal heart of child, Castelbajac reinvents main pieces of the french brand with boundless imagination. Over time, the designer has been inspired by art and meetings with Keith Haring or Jean-Michel Basquiat. Avant-gardist and visionary, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac was one of the firsts designers to transpose art into the women’s closet. He puts his very personal mark on this collection, since the oilskin becomes a poncho, and the hood transforms in a hat. Iconic striped jersey reminds the eighties, being adorned with flashy epaulettes. But this collaboration is also the occasion to discover the french music band « Presque L’Amour », who wrote a special song for the occasion and performed it live at the Musée de la Marine where the collection was first presented. Dressed to the colors of Castelbajac’s mythic palette, Petit Bateau will be wearing red, yellow and blue next fall. This childhood universe is perfectly personified under Castelbajac’s quill. This collaboration is, beside all, reunion of two big names of french fashion landscape, of youth, design and tradition.

The collection Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Paris & Petit Bateau will be available in selected Petit Bateau stores and on its e-boutique from 19th October 2015.
