MASHAMA FALL WINTER 2016: THE UNDERGROUND SPIRIT
Paris, MashaMa Fall Winter 2016. Chinese designer Masha Ma clearly represents this new generation of designers coming with a fresh take on clothing. With MashaMa, there is eccentricity in minimalism, and a whole lot of personality and attitude in the clothes. The show venue was perfectly fitting, and delightfully dichotomous: located on the luxurious Avenue George V, it was not your typical high ceiling and large windows kind of room, but an underground show space lit up by bright white spotlights. The collection is an impactful mix of sharply cut cashmere dresses, pieces of tailoring accessorized with metal chains, as well as eccentric outerwear, just as a shiny gold parka worn over a black leather dress. The collection is mainly black and white, at the exception a the few last looks dominated by a shiny, ambré gold. As for footwear, white pointy ankle boots are worn with white leather leg warmers: together, they give the impression to be thigh high boots. Multicolor hair locks give an extra edge to the incredible cast of models – and non models – walking the runway.
