REPORT ART / JORGE MACCHI AT ALEXANDER AND BONIN

By Crash redaction

Jorge Macchi shows his work through a new solo exhibition  ‘Loop’ at Alexander & Bonnin Gallery.

We were waiting for this exhibition where Macchi divide the gallery into three spaces. Each space contains works which  manifest the measure of time and put a light on extension in space through several projections, objects and watercolors.

Time stands the main theme in this exhibition. Pendulum, 2013  supported by two plastic stools, appears to buckle under its own weight. As the title suggests, this  irregularity also demarcates the path of a pendulum’s swing.

Jorge Macchi came from Buenos Aires where he still lives and work.  In 2011, his work was the subject of a analysis exhibition, ‘Music Stands Still’ at the Museum of Contemporary Art (SMAK) in Ghent. His work was mostly represented in the 12th Istanbul Biennial (2011), Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2010), ‘Brave New Worlds’ at the Walker Art Center (2007), at the Venice Biennale and his works will be exhibited in June in the Art Unlimited section of Art Basel.
