THE FIAC 2017 IS COMING SOON

By Crash redaction

Next week is already the 44th edition of the legendary Paris International Art Fair (FIAC), that will take place between the 19th and the 22nd of October. As usual, the Grand Palais hosts the event which has, this year, invited 192 galleries and 3000 artists, a much higher number than the previous years.

Beneath the spectacular glass ceiling, a multitude of contemporary and modern art pieces and installations will be exposed, but the FIAC is also happening in the open air : the whole city of Paris will become an exhibition if you are willing to explore. At the Tuileries Gardens, artworks by Jean Prouvé and Claude Vialat will be exposed and in the Place Vendôme you will be able to see an installation by Oscar Tuazon. Another interesting parallel event will be the « Parades for Fiac », organized in collaboration with the Louvre museum, that will showcase more than twenty performances in emblematic places of Paris.

Amidst the classic galleries present at the FIAC, like Thaddeus Ropac, Karsten Greve and Perrotin, forty new galleries have been added to the mix, from Los Angeles, Portugal, Egypt, Kosovo, Belgium and more. Concerning the artists exposed, unfortunately, we cannot be exhaustive as the list is extremely long but we suggest you check out the works of Orlan (who will have a solo exhibition), Andy Hope 1930, Nicola Samori, Maja Bajevic and Andrea Crespo. The best is still to roam around the Grand Palais and discover by yourself!

This year, the FIAC is also reintroducing design by inviting five internationally recognized galleries that are well known for their expertise in 20th and 21st century design : Galerie Kreo, LAFFANOUR – Galerie Downtown, Eric Philippe and Galerie Patrick Seguin.
