AMANDA HARLECH EMBODIES THE FENDI FALL-WINTER 2015 MEN’S COLLECTION

Fendi and Amanda Harlech are a winning combination. Still, who would have imagined the British muse could one day embody with such precision and truthful elegance a male character in a Fendi film dedicated to a menswear collection? This proves that, with Fendi, nothing is impossible. Indeed, the Italian House has always made a point of being boundary-pushing and daring in the choices of collaborations, designs, and imagery. aMANda gives a brand new take on the fall/winter 2015-16 men’s collection, with an elegant touch of poetry. In the film, directed by Patrick Kinmonth and Antonio Monfreda, Lady Amanda Harlech embodies both the male and female characters (the only two characters of the story) who evolve in an enigmatic atmosphere, asking the question of duality, balance, and self-discovery. The woman appears as an allegory, a mystic beauty longing to find her other half, whereas the man, at first lost in this still world, finds himself rediscovering who he is and soon embarking on a quest to reunite with the woman whose voice is filling his mind. A feminine whisper, which punctuates the escalating soundtrack, is reminiscent of an incarnation, a call addressed to the man in the hope to be found, delivered. The film brings a different light to the Fendi fall/winter 2015-16 men’s collection, which textures and understated tones create an indisputable link with the natural landscape of Capalbio’s natural reserve and the dreamy vision provided by the lake of Burano. Between speed and stillness, hope and despair, masculinity and femininity, there is a poem about introspection. Who am I? Why am I here for?

aMANda comes at a time when a new understanding of gender roles is on its way both in the fashion industry and in society in general. With this film, Fendi confirms its continued modernity, which always follows the path of the House’s cultural heritage, encompassing fashion, film, and overall boundless creativity.
