ANTHONY VACCARELLO NAMED CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF YVES SAINT LAURENT

By Crash redaction

ANTHONY VACCARELLO IS THE NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF YVES SAINT LAURENT

The official announcement was made today, confirming whispers going on within the fashion industry for the past few weeks. Anthony Vaccarello was just appointed as the new Creative Director of the Yves Saint Laurent House, following last week’s official announcement of Hedi Slimane leaving the House, as well as the recent news of Vaccarello leaving Versus Versace indefinitely. The young, 36-year-old Belgian designer has had a skyrocketing career so far. Grand Prize Winner at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography in 2006, as well as the ANDAM Fashion Award in 2011, Vaccarello then joined leading fashion Houses like Fendi and eventually Versus Versace for three years. In 2009, the designer created his eponymous brand, which still is one of Paris Fashion Week’s successes. Yves Saint Laurent and Anthony Vaccarello share some common ground, as states Francesca Bellettini, President and CEO of the House, underlining his balance of « provocative femininity and sharp masculinity in his silhouettes. » When asked about his feelings towards this nomination, Vaccarello expressed a profound gratitude for this opportunity: « Mr Saint Laurent is a legendary figure for his creativity, style and audacity, » he said. Anthony Vaccarello will present his first collection during Paris Spring-Summer 2017 Fashion Week this October.
