ANTOINE PLATTEAU x HERMES EXHIBITION IN POITIERS

At the occasion of the launch of the new cultural project Le Miroir in Poitiers, Hermès decided to exhibit for the first time the windows displays designed by Antoine Platteau, decorator of the house since 2014. The project has the aim to make the public experience marvelous works of art all reunited in a unique venue by trigging individuals imageries. In this context, Antoine Platteau perfectly finds his place. Between art and craftsmanship, windows displays started developing between 1880 and 1930, the same period when Hermès opened his first boutique in Rue Saint-Honoré. Its windows became a must-see of the French capital, reaching one of their best expression upon Antoine Platteau’s direction. Coming from a cinema and theatre background, Platteau constantly invites the viewer to the pleasure of contemplation, putting in context the vast Hermès heritage through decoration’s allegories. He often collaborates with experienced artists and artisans on his creations, perpetuating Hermès’ tradition of « artistic conversations. » The exhibition is a retrospective of two years of the decorator’s work, and a enhanced vision of Hermès heritage.
