BACKSTAGE AT AMI F/W24 : A TALE OF PARISIAN WISDOM AND ELEGANCE

By Iris Jeanson

Last night at the Tennis Club de Paris, the much-anticipated Ami Fall-Winter 24 Menswear and Womenswear collections took center stage, marking a poignant chapter in the brand’s 13-year journey. Guided by the theme « Il est cinq heures, Paris s’éveille » (5AM, Paris is waking up), Founder and Creative Director Alexandre Mattiussi crafted a collection that encapsulates 43 years of life, 25 years of fashion design, and over a decade of Ami.

Against the backdrop of the legendary Tennis Club de Paris, the set design paid homage to traditional Haussmann-style architecture. As guests traversed a dark corridor, they entered a vast black box, gradually revealing a Parisian Haussmann façade – a metaphorical journey from night to day, echoing the dawn of new possibilities.

In a delightful twist, French fashion luminaries Lou Doillon and Laetitia Casta, along with German actor and model Diane Kruger, graced the catwalk, injecting surprise and tradition. The casting continued Ami’s commitment to an intergenerational mix, showcasing both established and emerging models.

Fall-Winter 24 is an affirmation of Ami’s commitment to authenticity and sophistication. Silhouettes with sharp lines, petite proportions, and a rich color palette spanning black, grey, navy blue, and powdered hues like cream and lilac captured the essence of nighttime Paris. The collection featured a blend of textures and patterns, embracing the brand’s night-and-day spirit.

Iconic Ami bags underwent a bold transformation, with new designs within the Paris Paris and Déjà Vu lines, and the introduction of a unisex range of vegetal leather goods. Accessories showcased strass necklaces, chunky gold buttons, and signature striped heels on shoes, reflecting a meticulous attention to detail.

The Fall-Winter 24 guestlist was a constellation of stars, including friends of the f.AMI.ly and ambassadors like Wooshik Choi, Fran Drescher, Ed McVey, Juliette Binoche, Ross Lynch, Jihyo, Steven Zhang, Dominique Fishback, Isabelle Adjani, and Vincent Cassel.

In summary, Ami’s Fall-Winter 24 Collection is a captivating journey through wisdom and elegance. Beyond the remarkable designs, the runway show at the Tennis Club de Paris was a testament to AMI’s ability to seamlessly blend tradition with contemporary surprises, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of Parisian fashion.
