CHARLES JEFFREY LOVERBOY A/W 2020

By Crash

As one of the most creative and free-spirited designers of London fashion weeks, Charles Jeffrey’s shows are always very much awaited every season. This time, for Autumn/Winter 2020, he chose to craft a collection based on the duality of two imaginary entities: the Danders and the Glaedyhoots. The Danders, sort of cross between 1950s teddy boys, Scottish soldiers and dandies. Think oversized plaid suits, shoulder-padded lush blazers, dangling chains and other punk elements. On the other side of the spectrum, the Glaedyhoots represent a sort of magical creature, encapsulating all the esoteric matters of the world, making them valid points to explore. Painted faces in shades of moon and sun gladly glided in multicolored gowns that took on their own galaxy pattern.

Jeffrey also took inspiration from the Festival of the Horse in the Orkney Islands where youth takes part in an extravagant costume competition to disguise as horses. A way to pay homage to the historic bond between humankind and animals. Always bold, the pieces scream singularity and wit, never shying away from eccentric details. Discover some of the look from the collection below!
