Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 limited edition

As of this month, French House Lacoste is launching a limited re-edition of its iconic perfume: Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 as a way of paying tribute to their strong link to tennis as well as to reinvent themselves by referencing their traditions. Eau de Lacoste L.12.12, which is one of the highest selling fragrances around the world, is inspired by René Lacoste’s iconic polo shirt. Being a world-renowned tennis player, Mr. Lacoste had the idea to create a practical polo shirt that would allow him to play at his best. In 1933, the Lacoste polo shirt was born: a white polo-shirt that Mr. Lacoste decided to call “L.12.12” – a tribute to his proper name, the jersey fabric chosen and the number of prototypes needed before obtaining the final product.

The Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 limited edition is all about this background. The reference to tennis is strongly visible in the packaging: from the sides of the bottle being gripped like a tennis net and the touches of yellow referencing to tennis balls. Of course, the color white also represents the original tennis white polo shirt by Lacoste, and also its timeless elegance and modernity evoke characteristics of the fragrance itself, with its subtle floral notes and strong masculine core.

Exceptionally this May 2014, Lacoste will launch a re-edition of the L.12.12 polo shirt to go along with the newly reinterpreted fragrance, making it the perfect occasion to treat oneself with a piece of the House’s timeless elegance.
