ESPRIT DIOR, MISS DIOR

In 1947, Christian Dior revolutionized the codes of elegance with his first show. Real visionary, he knew how to unite Couture and perfume: launched on the same year, Miss Dior, his first fragrance, is now a real symbol of the fashion House.

For the first time, its history is upon to become the subject of a great exhibition, taking place between November 13th and 25th at the Grand Palais. In order to celebrate this unique fragrance and all its strong symbols, Dior inivited 15 various female artists from all over the world such as Shirin Neshat, Tomoko Shioyasu, Liang Yuanwei or Polly Apfelbaum to free rein their imagination and get inispired by Miss Dior in order to create their own contemporary creations.

Each work will be exhibited in correspondence with the heritage item of Miss Dior that inspired it. The famous Miss Dior node, the rose, the hound’s-tooth cloth pattern or the sublime Natalie Portman, today’s face and soul of the fragrance were as many images and codes available for the artists to interpret. Many mythical dresses will punctuate this journey, as the red and flaming « Concerto » (1957), the inevitable « Tailleur Bar » (1947) but also the Raf Simons contemporary designs, which shimmering colorama celebrates the eternal Dior Couture lines with modernity.

Curated by Hervé Mikaeloff and staged by Nathalie Crinière, this exhibition is putting Dior’s tradition towards the future, carrying the legend on.
