Welcome to Péripate, the infamous squat hosting the French capital’s wildest after parties… In this space, we photographed the Vuitton 2019 Cruise collection amidst sculptures by Marion Verboom. Participating in the LVMH Métiers d’Art residency, the young French artist was invited to present her next exhibition, called Ester, at Galerie Jérôme Poggi. The gallery will host fifteen works created at the Manifattura Thélios in Italy through experiments with acetate, a primary component of eyewear and an intriguing new material for the artist. “Acetate has always seemed mysterious to me. Through my research, I have learnt to model and inject it with many different external materials. One way of giving it structure and soul is to make it ‘animato’, as the Italian artisans whom I’ve had the chance to work with like to say.” Inspired by antique forms and organic materials, her layered sculptures confront textures, colors and sensations.
