GOSHA RUBCHINSKIY IS THE THIRD DESIGNER CHOSEN BY DIESEL RED TAG

By Alice Butterlin

For the third installment of its Red Tag series – after Shayne Oliver and Glenn Martens – Diesel has chosen Moscow-based designer Gosha Rubchinskiy to take part in a mini collection with his new project GR-UNIFORMA. Rubchinskiy had announced in June he was putting an end to his eponymous brand and since then, fans were waiting for his next move. The news broke out a couple of days ago and very discreetly, with only a mysterious Instagram post, GR-UNIFORMA was born. More than a fashion brand, the project will launch on March 16th in Dover Street Market worldwide and will be accompanied by art and music. Based on a manifesto that places uniform and affiliation to a subculture at the center of style, we can’t wait to discover what the designer has in store.

But for now, this first collaboration is centered around denim and the iconic Diesel jeans that have been popular since the 90s. Gosha remembers his first encounters with the brand: « Denim is an important part of the wardrobe of youth today. I remember myself as a teenager in the late 90s and it was the same. It was the time of Diesel’s first bright and strong advertising campaigns, and the brand’s first shop in Moscow. It was a dream for me to own Diesel denims. Now dreams have come true – I’m more than happy to collaborate with such a great brand! » The collection will be revealed on May 9th during the Venice Art Biennale with an art performance created by Rubchinskiy.
