GUCCI PRESENTS A FILM IN COLLABORATION WITH THE NORTH FACE

By Crash

Following last December’s unveiling of The North Face x Gucci collection, and to mark the partnership between two brands that celebrate the spirit of exploration, Gucci asked artist Sean Vegezzi to interpret the concept of adventure, literally and metaphorically, in a documentary film.

In his documentary, Sean Vegezzi expresses his passion for nature in the heart of the wilderness of the Alps and creates a world where beauty and functionality coexist.

By capturing the elaboration and production processes that have helped shape the collection, the film presents the clothes through the eyes of their creators. The film features interviews with Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele and David Whetstone, Gucci’s head of design responsible for The North Face’s global collaborations, archives and special projects. Testimonials from the creative team, product designers and exceptional craftsmen are also revealed. Constructed like a chronicle, the documentary is enhanced by images filmed in the Dolomites and the California Sierra Nevada, as well as by excerpts that retrace the creative and production processes in the factory and the early hours of The North Face, explaining how this reference brand for outdoor specialists was adopted in major cities and evoking the major cultural figures that contributed to its popularity. Included are professional climber Nina Williams and graffiti artist Post AOW.

Throughout the documentary, the natural power of the landscape is a character in its own right, animating the bright colors, pleasant textures, fabrics and technical features of products that all eloquently evoke the world of climbing, mountaineering and « that shamanic power that allows us to penetrate other territories », in the words of Alessandro Michele.
