INVENTING A NEW SILHOUETTE AT Y/PROJECT

By Crash redaction

Following his play on proportions and cuts, Glenn Martens manages to deliver, yet again, a plethora of unexpected silhouettes made of clever styling ideas and new shapes for the Y/Project men’s A/W 2018 collection. While avant-garde, the pieces are still wearable and remain embedded in street culture.

Every season brings a new way for Martens of working around denim and this time he created multi-layered denim pants and a pair of jeans with a large pleat at the front. Following his women collection, here too, it was all about pushing volume to a maximum with excess fabric bulking or draping on the models. More surprising was the collaboration with the Australian shoe brand UGG. Y/Project reinterpreted the iconic furry boot by making it abnormally huge and high or with triple overlaps.
