BACKSTAGE AT LOUIS GABRIEL NOUCHI’S F/W24 : A LITERARY ODE TO OPULENCE AND AMBITION

By Aicha NDIAYE

Louis Gabriel Nouchi, once again captivates the audience with his Fall/Winter 2024 Collection, presented this Wednesday at the Paris Fashion Week. Drawing inspiration from Guy de Maupassant’s timeless work, « BEL AMI, » the designer weaves a narrative of male ambition, opulence, and 19th-century aesthetics.

Nouchi’s signature tailoring takes center stage in the evening wardrobe with tuxedos boast strong shoulders, cinched waists, and defined hip structures. The nod to 19th-century aesthetics is translated into long, voluminous coats reminiscent of capes, evoking a sense of timeless elegance. Silk ties drape over supple jacquard jacket collars, and fluid, see-through homewear pieces transport onlookers to the intimacy and luxury of glamorous receptions.

The collection’s fabrics, developed by the LGN Studio, effortlessly evoke the opulence and richness of fur. Trompe-l’oeil fur-patterned jacquards, lush Tencel knit stitches, and cut-thread jacquards are looking both like feathers and fur, showcasing the brand’s commitment to textile innovation.

A color palette dominated by luxurious, sensual black pays homage to the 19th-century bourgeoisie, as well as notes of ostentatious pearl white and elegant midnight blue. The inclusion of a gold leather look punctuates the collection, adding a new touch of extravagance and sophistication.

In a bold move, Louis Gabriel Nouchi introduces his womenswear collection, featuring LGN’s masculine wardrobe tailored on women models, such as suits, shirts, trench coats, and underwear.
