MATTHEW WILLIAMS APPOINTED CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF GIVENCHY

By Crash

He is known for redefining streetwear and luxury with his brand 1017 ALYX 9SM and today he is taking on yet another role as the new creative director of Givenchy. Matthew Williams will replace Clare Waight Keller, the first woman to ever be at the helm of the mythical French fashion house. After Virgil Abloh at Louis Vuitton, LVMH continues its quest to place young and fresh designers at the forefront of its labels, providing new and improved visions that take heritage houses to higher levels and keep them contemporary. Williams’ first collection for Givenchy will be presented in October. The American designer has said his aim was to make Givenchy more inclusive and modern, anchoring it in our harsh reality and taking into account everything that’s been brewing up in fashion and in the world lately. We can’t wait to see what he’s planned and discover the new direction of Givenchy. The post-pandemic fashion will have to renew itself, facing never-seen-before challenges, but we are sure Matthew Williams is the right candidate to craft intelligent and refined collections with the future in mind.
