On Thursday March 2, the Max Mara Store on the Rue de Rivoli presented an innovative project uniting the brand’s creators with British artist Shantell Martin. Specialized in drawing, the artist has already collaborated with Refinery29 to create the Refinery29: 29 Rooms installation for New York Fashion Week 2016, while she also contributed to an exhibition hosted by Lane Crawford in Hong Kong in 2013.

For Spring/Summer 2017, Shantell Martin has ornamented a collection of unique sunglasses with her signature lines for Max Mara.

This artist chose to represent a world of characters and identities through an interplay of fluid and entwined lines. Her style is here perceived and combined with Max Mara’s style in order to bring out a sweet complicity between the fluid and elusive lines of Shantell Martin and the proportionate shapes of Max Mara. In this way, the two voices join to offer up a perfect balance of emotions, while showcasing all the technological prowess involved in reproducing a single piece of art: the limited collection features only 1,000 pieces, each one displaying a different section of the unique artwork produced by Shantell Martin.

The collaboration thus offers a way to wear a piece of art at all times, experiencing the world through its lens and donning one of several identities drawn by Shantell Martin.
Attending the special presentation evening, Maria-Giulia Prezioso Maramotti, Giorgio Guidotti, Stefano Tonchi, Lou Lesage, Ana Girardot, and Ines Sastre each wore a pair of these creative sunglasses.
