MONCLER MAYA 70 BY PHARRELL WILLIAMS

By Roisin Breen

In the last installment of its 70th anniversary celebrations Moncler unveils its seventh and final interpretation of its iconic Maya jacket, designed by the legendary musician, producer, designer, philanthropist and most recently wellness entrepreneur, Pharrell Williams.

Pharrell reinterprets the Maya jacket with a molded polymer material, dressed with the embossed logo. « How do you define the last 70 years? It’s an honor to be able to reinvent the iconic Maya jacket through my own vision. I knew from the beginning that I wanted it to be designed entirely in rubber. » explains the designer who chose Tobe Nwigwe to embody his creation in the campaign. « I’m a big fan of Tobe, and the way he combines music and fashion to create his own unique style. He’s the only person I know who can wear a rubber jacket and make it look even better. »

Pharrell excels as a fashion designer for his Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream brands, and regularly collaborates with brands such as Bionic Yarn, Adidas, Chanel and Richard Mille. In fall 2019, Pharrell Williams partnered with David Grutman and opened Swan and Bar Bevy in Miami’s Design District, as well as Goodtime Hotel in 2021. In 2020, Pharrell founded Humanrace™ with a mission to empower all individuals in their quest for wellness.
