PRADA LAUNCHES A NEW LINEA ROSSA LINE

By Alice Butterlin

More than twenty years ago, in 1997, Prada was launching its sport line Linea Rossa which would last until the mid 2000s and would mark the Italian brand’s entry into more functional-wear. Fanny packs, cycle shorts and technical fabrics slowly made their way into the brand’s aesthetic. Today, Prada brings back the Linea Rossa for an up-to-date version of luxury sportswear. At a time when more casual and wearable silhouettes infiltrate high fashion, it seems natural for Prada to jump on the bandwagon.

The first looks of the line debuted at the men’s and women’s Fall/Winter 2018 shows with a focus on technical detailing and pieces like track pants, parkas and bomber jackets all in bright neon hues and minimal cuts. The pieces are sure to be a hit for the younger Prada fans. Performance meets fashion in a line geared towards outdoor activities like skiing and snowboarding. To finish off, the garments are, for the most part, unisex.

The collection is available now in selected Prada and department stores, as well as on the website.
