REDEMPTION AND THE MOTORBIKE SPIRIT

Redemption is an Italian brand created by Gabriele Moratti and Daniele Sirtori in 2013. Both of them share the same passion for motorbikes – and of course, fashion. The Redemption adventure began a few years ago as they were in the business of making highly luxurious motorbikes in limited edition that were sold for charity. For them, fashion was a natural extension to their activity. With Redemption, they imagined an edgy girl that could be riding their motorbikes, or a cool woman in love with a biker, and began creating collections around this idea of an adventurer. Being an Italian brand, Redemption has aimed to showcase Italian artisanal know-how since its creation – the collections are manufactured in Italy. Though fashion may be their current focus, the designers continue to create rare motorbikes – one or two per year, just like art pieces – and are still very committed to their charity work. Indeed, 50% of the net profits are donated to a selection of charity organizations, like the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). For their Fall-Winter 2015 collection, the designers chose the Parisian Hôtel d’Evreux to put on a show/dance performance choreographed by Mia Frye. The collection introduced embroidered flowers on long sheer dresses, clashing with the usual edgy sensuality provided by leather pieces and sharp cuts with a dominance of black. Redemption shows us than even sophistication can be adventurous.
