VIVIENNE WESTWOOD LEADS ANTI-FRACKING PROTEST

On September 11th, Dame Vivienne Westwood took a stand and protested against fracking, taking the lead of a protest by jumping on top of a tank. She was joined by hundreds of other anti-fracking protesters including Talkfracking and The Nanas, grand mothers and their grand children. The activists surprised the residents of Witney, a sleepy town in Oxfordshire, where the Prime Minister David Cameron lives, declaring war against the government’s new policy to forcing fracking on people. Indeed, 27 new fracking licenses has been released through parts of Northern England and the Midlands.

It’s not the first time that the fashion designer takes action against fracking and for environmental issues. She condemned the practice as a crime against humanity. Climate change has always been a cause close to her heart. Years ago, she launched Climate Revolution to help raise awareness about the environment problematics. Great environmental activist, Vivienne Westwood recently started supporting the anti-fracking cause. Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth to extract the gas inside. “Fracking is a killer”, she says, “It brings on the climate change which is the ultimate killer.”

On Sunday September 20th, Vivienne Westwood will present her Red Label Spring/Summer 2016 collection during London Fashion week. The show will be livestreamed on viviennewestwood.com / Between her political and environmental commitment, and her fashion empire, there is nothing that can stop Vivienne Westwood.
