ANNA CLEVELAND FOR VIONNET FALL-WINTER 2015 CAMPAIGN

By Crash redaction

Anna Cleveland for Vionnet FW15 campaign

Anna Cleveland for Vionnet is the epitome of refinement and the incarnation of a modern elegance. Photographed by Dylan Don, the new Vionnet Fall-Winter 2015 campaign features model and muse gracing a minimalist setting of her gracious moves. Shot in black & white, the campaign has something of timeless fashion images and could be compared with the great mid-20th century photographs of Horst P. Horst or Edward Steichen for their strong yet soft visual impact, or George Hoyningen-Huene for the artistic statement they make. There is almost something nostalgic about the Vionnet campaign, something that makes our mind travel to Ancient Greece with the fluid, draped dresses contrasting with strong, modern stripes that create new angles on the body. The picture of Cleveland showing her naked back to the camera, looking out of the frame, is strikingly beautiful. It introduces yet another artistic inspiration: painting. There are many connections to art history to be made here, but we couldn’t help but think of a thoughtful, modern interpretation of Diego Velázquez’ Rokeby Venus in the shape of the body and the draping of the fabric.
