DISCOVER THE ART ISSUE 82 WITH GILBERT & GEORGE AND OKSANA SHACHKO

By Crash redaction

The (Radical) Art Issue

We may as well call this one the radical art issue. Crash is gearing up to ring in its twentieth anniversary in 2018! Twenty years of independence, twenty years of fighting hard to stay on course! And before Crash, there was the review Blocnotes.

Ever since 1992 we have championed radical art, engaged art, disturbing art, created by every generation, from Chris Burden to Michel Journiac and Valie Export, Joep Van Lieshout…

Blocnotes was a laboratory for brainstorming and promoting a new generation of artists.

Artists outside the art market of the time… We wanted to push the boundaries, blur the lines between disciplines, between generations, and stand up for women artists…

In this Crash 82, we find this same spirit with the young Oksana Shachko, founder of Femen, who has embarked on an art career just as fascinating as her background from Ukraine to Paris is incredible. we will also meet with the patriarchs Gilbert and George, who are celebrating fifty years of radical art! They too have always fought against prejudice based on religion, gender, or appearance, and in favor of utopia, a life lived like a total artwork…
