AIR DE PARIS SHARES TWO VIDEOS OF ITS EXHIBITIONS

By Crash

As it is impossible for anyone to go to museums and galleries, Air de Paris is bringing the exhibition experience to your home where you’re bound to stay for a while. These two exhibitions have just closed but if you missed them, you can now discover them in motion. The first one puts together a collection of videos by American artist Sturtevant. Entitled « Ça va aller », it actually takes us back to 1998, when Sturtevant started creating these videos specially for Air de Paris. This body of work has continued evolving over the years and this event brought together more than twenty years of reflection on consumer culture, technology and entertainment in the fields of porn, beauty, food and sports. With game show footage, commercials and sequences she filmed herself of animated plush toys, the videos all share a feeling of malaise and confront us to our darkest obsessions.

The second exhibition you can discover is a group show curated by Ana Mendoza Aldana. Entitled « El Oro de Los Tigres », it takes its name from a Jorge Luis Borges poem where he speaks about his blindness and the gradual loss of colors that came with it. All the colors of the world turned a bluish grey for him, except for yellow which guides him and forges his memories, showing him a happier light. The artists invited to participate in this exhibition all share a relationship to time beyond the immediate and the instantaneous. Their work is rooted in literature, the tales of ancient civilizations and the archetypal forms they produced. A past and stories that overlap and converge with our present.
