ART BASEL PRESENTS KORAKRIT ARUNANONDCHAI

By Crash

As part of its Meet the Artists series, Art Basel has just came out with a beautiful short film on the Thai-born, US-based artist Korakrit Arunanondchai. An immersion into his fantastical world, full of ghost stories, mythology, meditation and introspection. Though using different mediums like installation, video, sculpture or painting, he always uses storytelling and personal experience to express his ideas. His work stems from a hybridation of cultures, times and spaces to create unprecedented experiences that transcend body and mind. Rituals play a big role in Arunanondchai’s art as it is for him the way to access the interconnected nets of things and subjects. He ties ancestral practices to the modern hyper-connected world and traces parallels between the gaze of a drone and the gaze of God. Discover his video portrait below.

Korakrit Arunanondchai is represented by Clearing, New York City, Brussels, and Carlos / Ishikawa, London.
