BACKSTAGE AT JOHN ELLIOTT SS 23

By Crash redaction

John Elliott’s Spring / Summer 23 show was presented at Paris Fashion Week on the 5th floor terrace of the Centre Pompidou. It was the brand’s ninth runway show and debut collection in Paris. Inspired by the exuberance of the last day of school and the nervousness often felt on first day of school and referencing the minimalist approach to fashion that was prevalent during Elliott’s childhood in the 90s. “It started with the idea of how I want to dress right now, mixed with where I think the consumer is headed. My goal was to evolve the brand, which is what any creative director considers,” John Elliott states. Ties and tailoring throughout the collection are a symbol of maturity while transparent knits and close to the body fits for women signal body confidence. Leather is prominent, hand worked and beautiful, but worn, mixing old with new and interesting.
