BACKSTAGE AT KOCHÉ A/W 2019

By Alice Butterlin

Christelle Kocher saw big for her fall/winter 2019 show, staging it in one of the biggest concert venues of the capital: The AccorHotels Arena. She is known for putting on the most unforgettable fashion shows in unexpected spots like a buzzing Paris shopping center or the Times Square Planet Hollywood. But this time, it felt like Koché was bringing it to the next level. The aim was to invite as many people as she could, even bringing in young fashion students in the mix. The collection was all about clashing cultures and creating patchworks of various ethnical references. Diversity always seems to be a key word for the French designer, from the choice of models to the inspirations. Her love for sports – in particular soccer – was once again celebrated in deconstructed jersey dresses, scarves with flags, football stitching and the launch her collaboration with Nike. It makes incredible sense for Koché to work with the brand, given its loyalty to elevated sportswear since the first collections. Extremely extravagant wide-brimmed Ostrich lined hats and intricate pirate belts gave otherwise relaxed silhouettes a regal feel. That’s the power of Koché – bringing couture to the street, making it eclectic. Colors were bright and bold. Monochromatic red silhouettes opened the show, followed by sequined party dresses and skinny pants and gorgeous bright orange crushed velvet pieces. The show closed with an army of Koché muses, led by Christelle, walking to the U2 anthem “Pride (in the name of love)”. Check out our backstage photos below!
