CALVIN KLEIN PRESENTS AN INSTALLATION AT DESIGN MIAMI

By Crash redaction

For the first time, Calvin Klein is submitting an installation during the Design Miami/ Basel which will take place from June 12th through 17th. Raf Simons is no stranger to contemporary art and never shies away from taking inspiration cues from painters and photographers and collaborations with the likes of Brian Calvin in 2013 or Sterling Ruby in 2014 for his eponymous line. It seemed natural that the dutch designer would contribute to an art fair as influential and renown as Design Miami/ Basel.

The space will without a doubt look familiar to some as it served as the backdrop for the latest Calvin Klein campaigns. The « Expansive International Landscape » is an authentic rustic American barn with a high ceiling and industrial lighting. It features colorful vintage quilts and Cassina Feltri armchairs, the iconic design piece created by Gaetano Pesce. As a fan of the Italian artist and designer, Simons made a call to Cassina to set up a series of a hundred numbered Feltri chairs customized with Calvin Klein codes. Half of these pieces will be available for purchase at the fair.
