CITY OF PALM ANGELS

By Katya Hudson

Launching on the 10th of November, the free-standing store will exist for only 3 weeks, set in front of the high-end store Maxfield. Founder and Creative Director Francesco Ragazzi decided Los Angeles, the city of Palm Angels, was right for the event.

Conceived as a space to immerse customers in a true 360° experience of the brand. Inside we will see contrasts of materials coexisting with raw design and luxury finishings. The heart of the store is the Palm tree: more than an installation, it represents the brand.

In a constant state of flux, the store will play host to different collections to name a few; a homage to L.A. titled You Are Exactly Where You Need To Be, a Moon Boot capsule, the 8 Moncler Palm Angels collection, Mate bikes, and the brands first to a one-off high jewelry collection crafted by the Londoner based jeweler, Duffy.

Palm Angels LOS ANGELES

As a person, Ragazzi seamlessly dispenses a philosophy based on explicit values that reference a deep sense of belonging, freedom, individuality, and exploration.

« Palm Angels was born as a photography book, featuring black-and-white pictures of the Los Angeles skateboard scene, that I shot in 2011. At the time I was inspired to create the book by my passion for photography, as a true art of expression, and that laid-back LA vibe that you could only live and authentically experience in places like Venice beach. I have grown up with the Americana imagery, of west and east costs particularly, that I naturally infused in Palm Angels. Having now the possibility to showcase the brand in L.A. with a one-of-a-kind store is for me a comeback to where everything started », says Francesco Ragazzi.

THE COLLECTIONS:

8 MONCLER PALM ANGELS

Designed by Francesco Ragazzi, this collection reinterprets the concept of uniforms: liberated glorifies individuality. Basketball, hockey and baseball uniforms are reimagined, to be worn off the sporting field. Clothing archetypes including the puffer, the varsity jacket and the tracksuit seen from a new perspective.

PALM ANGELS X MATE

Palm Angels and leading electric vehicle brand MATE, join forces to bring life to a bold and unique electric bike.

This collaboration is fundamentally in tune with the manifesto Palm Angels; with a crossover of mindsets, continuous experimenting and exploring different fields, generating new categories of hybrids. Long black leather fringes envelop the handles of the custom bike, its gold frame bearing the Palm Angels and the MATE logo on either side.

Available for sale exclusively in the Palm Angels pop-up boutique.

PALM ANGELS’ HIGH JEWELLERY COLLECTION

Palm Angel’s debut collection of High Jewelry transfers the brand’s eclectic vision through four unique pieces.

Born of a mutual love of the art of fine jewelry, the collaboration between Francesco Ragazzi and designer and master jeweler Duffy, the collection allowed both creatives to make their mark: Francesco pushed Duffy into a specific world of symbols and colors, whilst Duffy, in turn, championed the use of mixed precious metals and crafted each of the four pieces.

Palm Angels High Jewelry collection – two bracelets, a pendant, and a necklace – will be exclusively available from November 10th at the brands’ pop-up boutique in Los Angeles.

ABOUT THE BRAND

Francesco Ragazzi started Palm Angels in 2011 as a photographic documentation of LA’s skater culture. The endeavor evolved into a book, published by Rizzoli in 2014, and subsequently into clothing in 2015. Stemming from an Italian take on American culture and subcultures. It merges an appreciation for sartorial codes and a joy for fabric with a proclivity for using clothing as cultural signifiers.
