FENDI : THE SUMMER 2021 CAPSULE COLLAB’ WITH SARAH COLEMAN

By Crash redaction

FENDI celebrates the summer season with a capsule collection with a cheerful and comforting tone. Dominated by shades of yellow and light blue, the Summer 2021 capsule collection ranges from sophisticated and captivating bags and accessories to pre-wear for women, men and children.

References from the 70’s and 90’s are blended into a collection where FENDI’s unique know-how is combined with its innovative and avant-garde approach.

As part of its Summer 2021 capsule, after the official launch at Design Miami, FENDI is renewing its collaboration with New York visual artist Sarah Coleman, known for her detour of monogrammed canvases from the brands she uses to rethink and repurpose everyday objects with an offbeat filter.

Sharing a passion for taking craft in new directions, Sarah Coleman and Silvia Venturini Fendi (FENDI’s Artistic Director of Accessories and Men’s Fashion), worked together on a new interpretation of the iconic FF logo motif, which has been revisited through the psychedelic filter of the 1970s. The result is FF Vertigo, a new magnetic pattern offering a twisted and turned version of the classic FF motif.

On the accessories side, the yellow FF Vertigo is printed with inkjet technology on mineral-tanned leather for the Peekaboo bag. While the tote bags and the new Baguette f997 (a re-edition of the House’s signature accessory, with slim sides and an adjustable, folding handle to be worn under the arm) are made of coated canvas printed in yellow, blue or emblematic jacquard fabric variations, renewing the iconic spirit of this now legendary style.

FENDI Vertigo also features new bag models, including the FENDI Bauletto mini-bag, as well as the textile world, which presents lightweight fabrics ideal for the summer season. The capsule includes a practical and versatile FENDI Mini SunShine straw bag with contrasting colored profiles and a more traditional leather version, both with the FENDI ROMA logo.

As part of the collaboration with Sarah Coleman, FENDI also sprinkled the FF Fisheye pattern on its Peekaboo X- Tote and 1997 Baguette, where the FF logo becomes wavy and fluid, as seen through a fish eye lens.

Finally, Coleman and FENDI also introduce a Peekaboo fSeeU made from FF logo embossed nappa leather, treated to glow in the dark. The new size, Peekaboo fSeeLf Small is presented in a timeless two-tone version in both smooth leather and Selleria.

Inspired by the sense of freedom associated with the outdoor lifestyle, the pre-wear offer combines style and functionality. In the women’s pre-wear range, multi-pocket skirts, convertible jackets and cargo pants with a utilitarian twist are worn with super feminine bodysuits and draped tops in the FF Vertigo pattern, which is also featured on windbreakers worn with matching sports ensembles.

The same combination of natural elegance and contemporary functionality is infused into the Men’s collection, also inspired by the outdoors. Lightweight yet durable fabrics, including FF Vertigo jacquard, lend a chic yet practical touch to T-shirts, short sleeve shirts, Bermuda shorts, as well as matching fisherman jackets, coordinating baggy pants, raincoats and summer suits made from lightweight organza. The multi-colored FF Vertigo pattern is featured on the embossed leather of the FENDI Pack, while the Baguette flats, come in medium and mini versions and the Peekaboo lSeeU bag is presented in a nappa embossed version with the FF fish-eye pattern. The FENDI Flow sneakers stand out with their FF Vertigo pattern, and the new super lightweight FENDI Force sneaker is a perfect match for the trekking sandals. The outdoor theme also influences the high-tech earbuds and phone cases, as well as the selection of jewelry where interlaced leather is matched with lacquered metal details and hiking ropes.

In keeping with the « mini me » trend, adult silhouettes find a playful reinterpretation in the children’s line, where the swirling FF Vertigo pattern is splashed across utilitarian nylon outfits, as well as canvas pants, organza dresses and draped tops, and a selection of beachwear. The FF « Fisheye » and FF « Vertigo » patterns are also featured in the Forever Fendi £imep/eces watch collection available in two versions, 29mm and 39mm cases. The FF Vertigo motif is also the protagonist of a range of limited edition items. A Polaroid camera born from the desire to personalize the iconic Polaroid 636 Vintage with the DNA of FENDI. A Bento box is part of the collaboration between FENDI and Alessi and a set of camping equipment, including a tent and a technical backpack, is produced by industry specialist Ferrino; both represent two leading companies in their field, united by Italian excellence and expertise. In keeping with the vintage spirit of the Summer 2021 capsule, FENDI also breathes a 70s vibe of freedom into a range of crochet bags, from the Mini Peekaboo and Baguette to the Sunshine tote bag with the FENDI Roma logo. The kitsch spirit of the 90’s is expressed in the most daring version of the Baguette 1997, covered with a cascade of transluCid sequins or enriched with floral embroidery. The Sellerissima line completes the Summer 2021 capsule. The luxurious Selleria line is renewed with a touch of boldness: a handmade macro-sewing exalting the timeless shapes of FENDI, Peekaboo and Baguette, as well as other models, such as ie By the Way, ie iVloonlight and ie Sunshine Shopper. Available in FENDI stores worldwide and on fendi.com since May 2021.
