FENDI’S ‘PEEKABOO’ FLIES OVER ROME

By Crash redaction

Designed by Silvia Venturini and first seen on the Spring/Summer 2009 runway, the Fendi Peekaboo is the perfect combination of Roman craftsmanship and fun. The Peekaboo is a shapeshifter. Centered around a double turnlock upper frame, the gusseted pocket construction and weighted keyhole hardware causes a suspended drape when open, creating the bag’s signature ‘curved’ smile that reveals its luxurious inner craftsmanship, hence the name, Peekaboo. The bag has been scaled up and down over the years and worn on the shoulder, in hand and as a cross body. As a celebration of this iconic bag, Fendi has collaborated with renowned director Luca Guadagnino to create a short film which explores the irreverent imagination and powerful femininity embodied by Fendi.  Adwoa Aboah is depicted as a fashionable incarnation of superwoman, seen flying above Rome, carrying the latest Peekaboo models. « The Fendi woman is empowered: she is someone of her own making, » says Kim Jones. This sentiment is celebrated in the short video with beautiful visuals. Discover the video and the latest versions of The Peekaboo IseeU, the Petite & Micro, below.
