LEGO LEAVES SHELL – A GREENPEACE INITIATIVE

By Crash redaction

After three months of campaigning against Shell, Greepeace has just won the battle: LEGO has announced the termination of their partnership with the oil behemoth. Their collaboration, which began in 1960, is due to end in 18 months. This decision was taken in consideration of the efforts made by the Greenpeace activists in order to take a stand against Shell’s drilling projects in the Arctic. In July this year, Greenpeace released a video called « Everything is NOT awesome » on their official YouTube channel, recreating a LEGO town in the Arctic that is suddenly drowned under a sea of oil. The video counts 6 millions views and has helped Greenpeace gather more than a million signatures on their petition against Shell. Greenpeace’s methods may be controversial – and hardly recommended by LEGO’s directors – but this campaign represent without a doubt a step forward to more eco-responsible companies.
