GUCCI DESIGNS MADONNA’S REBEL HEART TOUR COSTUMES

Yesterday, September 9th, was the first concert of Madonna’s much-anticipated Rebel Heart tour and it was the Canadian fans in Montreal’s Bell Centre who were the lucky first admirers of the Queen of Pop’s scenography and, of course, costumes. Madonna is known for her extravagant, yet precise taste when it comes to style on stage. And she always took her concerts as the opportunity to collaborate with some of the greatest designers of our time. Who doesn’t remember the already iconic cone bra and bustiers created by the enfant terrible de la mode Jean Paul Gaultier? This time again, Madonna is all about making a statement. And for that, she chose none other than Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, the man that shook up the fashion world ever since he rebuilt the brand’s image from the ground up. It is that precise vision and a certain drive towards the future that unite Madonna and Michele. And the designer couldn’t be more excited: « My collaboration with Madonna was an incredible experience and a true gift. » For the stage, Alessandro Michele designed a Gucci gypsy-inspired costume with a lace bodysuit with multicolor details, as well a black, crepe de Chine ruffled skirt with patchwork embroideries. A black fringed silk shawl, lace gloves, leather lace-up boots and a black hat covered in silk flowers completed the look. Madonna’s dancers also benefited from the Gucci/Alessandro Michele treatment: they wore patchwork overalls with ruffles and multicolor details.
