MARCO DE VINCENZO PIMPS THE CLASSIC SUPERGA SNEAKER

By Alice Butterlin

There’s no doubt the Superga has become a cult shoe since its beginnings in 1911 and the birth of the best-seller: the 2750. It has been worn by every fashionista and is praised for its simplicity and radical design. The young Italian designer Marco de Vincenzo has been invited to put his spin on the sneaker who acted as a blank canvas…shoe. He commented on the collaboration: « Time creates value and makes things iconic. Working with Superga was like finding new words to tell a story that has lasted for over 100 years. »

De Vincenzo played with proportions, exaggerating the forms to the maximum. The metal eyelets give way to multicolored Swarovski rhinestones and a tulle bow replaces the traditional laces. The showstopper of the collection are the black Superga thigh-high boots with a chunky platform heel. They are guaranteed to be a hit with a more fashion-forward crowd. They are available on 24 SEVRES.
