NOW GALLERY PRESENTS: ‘GREETINGS FROM IRELAND’, AN EXHIBITION BY ROBYN LYNCH

By Martina Conte

Greetings From Ireland is the name of the 2023 Fashion Commission to be held this fall at the NOW Gallery on London’s Greenwich Peninsula. This year’s edition is being held by prestigious fashion designer Robyn Lynch, and intends to provide the most exciting names in fashion; a project that aims to create engaging, cutting-edge installations that offer unparalleled insight into each artist’s work.

Open to the public from December 6, 2023 to February 25, 2024, Greetings From Ireland will immerse visitors in the universe of Robyn Lynch and her eponymous menswear brand. The exhibition is a celebration and homage to the origins of the designer and the brand, telling what it means to be Irish but also exploring the creative process behind a fashion brand.

A 2023 finalist for the prestigious International Woolmark Prize, Lynch is a designer whose collections look to the past to reinvigorate the future, paying homage to yesterday’s fashion and vintage but daring to radically explore new silhouettes and current processes. The installation consists of a huge inflatable structure, created in collaboration with Irish artist Rory Mullen, Greetings From Ireland will explore themes of nostalgia, family, Irish heritage and freedom of expression from a bygone era. In addition, visitors will also have the opportunity to virtually « try on » Robyn Lynch’s garments in an interactive installation. Created in collaboration with Kepler, the installation will feature motion sensors that detect body shapes and movements, allowing the clothes to be superimposed on guests.
