OLIVIER THEYSKENS SS22

By Crash redaction

Olivier Theyskens unveiled his SS22 collection.

Olivier Theyskens did things differently this time around, choosing to skip the fall/winter season altogether, he presented instead a laborious collection which had been created over the duration of the last year. Fabrics constructed entirely out of his personal collection of treasured and antique fabrics (mostly cut-offs from factories and mills he has worked with over the years.) Theyskens and his small team of assistants meticulously patch-worked the pieces together to achieve an ephemeral, almost liquid-like final result.

True pieces of art, the pieces will not go into production but alternatively, each unique garment will be sold to one unique client. Theyskeyns is toying with the ‘processes’ now so familiar in the industry throughout the entirety of this collection. He calls to mind the longevity of clothes from a time gone by when everything was created by hand and designed to last a lifetime.

Skilfully creating classic Theyskens designs with this original method, signature pieces included; long bias evening gowns with open backs; Victorian jackets; mini dresses and corsets. He did not shy away from the labour of crafting complicated, sculptured clothing in addition to his revolutionary practise of fabric production.
