SCHIAPARELLI HAUTE COUTURE SS16: ON THE RUNWAY

Paris. Schiaparelli Haute Couture SS16. Discover our key looks from the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2016 collection shown today, first day of Paris Haute Couture Week.
For this season, Bertrand Guyon focuses his collection on food and the time spent around the table as a return to the essentials pleasures of life. The mealtime has always been present in Schiaparelli’s life due to her Italian origins. For the brand’s founder, the pleasure of having your loved ones home while eating a good meal gives joy to life. It is this directive that Guyon decided to take with this collection, reminding us of the importance of sharing and being together in such a difficult moment for our society. Teapots embroideries, cutlery and vegetables prints and geometric patterns are recurrent themes in the collection. Vintage napkins for pique-nique turn into decorative motifs for elegant clothes. The long dresses in crêpe and chiffon, often in pastel colors, give to the pieces a dreamy and surrealist touch. The third eye is often reproduced as a cameo on various dresses. The classic tailleur is revisited through a mix of different fabrics coupled with exquisites embroideries. The Schiaparelli’s couture woman is sophisticated, romantic and a little evanescent without loosing her eccentricity and irony.
