SEVENTY ONE GIN

By Martina Conte

SEVENTY ONE GIN, created by legendary fashion photographer and artist Mert Alas, is an unusual and exceptional expression of the rare.
The GIN was created over four years by carefully selecting the rarest and highest quality botanicals.
Each bottle captures the pure essence of each ingredient through a distillation and production process adapted to the rarity of the chosen ingredients. Each batch is ‘caressed’ by an exceptionally rare cactus flower. Cactus Queen of The Night blooms only once a year and only at night. Its flowers fade as soon as dawn arrives. At the moment of flowering, a heady scent of jasmine, magnolia, vanilla and musk fills the air.
This fragrance is then expertly captured through a meticulous extraction process that protects the flower’s characteristic flavour and aromas.
Finally, each bottle is gently aged for exactly 71 nights in selected oak barrels, imparting incomparable smoothness and different dimensions of complexity that create its distinctive golden colour. The result is a gin imbued with craftsmanship and artistry.
SEVENTY ONE uses only 10 per cent of the juniper berries harvested on the shores of the Black Sea, this confers an element of natural sweetness. Rose petals from the ‘city of roses’, Isparta, introduce soft floral notes; these flowers are hand-picked at dawn to preserve the delicate fragrance. The refreshing citrus notes, on the other hand, come from hand-picked Turkish grapefruits. And the final key element in creating the original aromatic notes is cinchona bark, which has a naturally sweet and spicy character. The latter is harvested for SEVENTY ONE in a sustainable and responsible manner by local producers in Ecuador.

Originally created for pure consumption, SEVENTY ONE GIN can be enjoyed either on the rocks or with soda or as the main ingredient in a Golden Martini. SEVENTY ONE is currently available throughout Europe and at leading UK retailers such as Selfridges and among Hedonism Wines’ selection of prestigious spirits.

SEVENTY ONE is also available in London’s finest bars and of course on their dedicated website WWW.SEVENTYONEGIN.COM
