FRONT ROW AT WANDA NYLON SHOW

« Excess. By all means. In everything. » This is the statement you could read on a handout left on the seats of the Wanda Nylon Spring-Summer 2016 show, the first ever of the brand as part of the Paris Fashion Week official calendar. It was all about making a splash and being unconventional, like the venue chosen, an abandoned warehouse that is said to have burnt out a few years ago. In fact, guests were given big, white protection helmets to prevent any accident – or maybe to keep them on their toes, waiting for the unexpected. The crowd gathered to discover with a lot of enthusiasm designer Johanna Senyk’s powerful and edgy collection. Senyk created an impactful mix of jersey bodysuits, sweaters, and even a body conscious tube dress that were exploring the extreme possibilities of the fabric, associated with shiny metallic touches of green of burgundy on cut-out vests. The use of black vinyl gives an extra edgy feel to the collection while classic pieces, like a jumpsuit in black wool or a beige gabardine trench coat – are turned upside down, deconstructed and reconstructed in the most exquisite, yet playful way. A big hit.
