Rediscover our fashion story « Weekend à Rome » from our issue #75, shot by Frank Perrin and featuring Stella Lucia.

For the 2015-16 Chanel Métiers d’Art collection called “Paris in Rome,” Karl Lagerfeld took inspiration from iconic French actresses and Italian cinema. Known for producing many classic Italian films, the legendary Cinecittà Studios in Rome was the obvious choice to host the show. In Teatro N°5, Karl Lagerfeld put together a black-and-white Paris of yesteryear to recreate all the life of the city’s cobblestone streets. The silhouettes combine tones of late Roman autumn with the emblematic colors of Chanel. Its iconic suit is trimmed with a “galon pellicule” (film braid), available as a trompe-l’oeil dress or in a three-piece version. Knee-length dresses and miniskirts in tweed pair with small capes, while some garments feature painted motifs recalling Roman marble. Lace negligees embroidered with tulle and sheath dresses in pleated velvet also make an appearance, representing the culmination of Parisian elegance and Italian glamour.
