CHARLIE LE MINDU INSTALLATION AT LA SAMARITAINE:TRICOPHILIA

By Crash redaction

La Samaritaine is ready to celebrate nature, life, texture and hair with different perspectives and initiatives.

Paris à Poil(s), the new campaign that takes over the department store for three months, is an invitation to rediscover one’s authenticity and celebrate the arrival of spring and good weather. Nature in all its facets and its different forms have inspired the different artists and brands.
La Samaritaine has given carte blanche to Charlie Le Mindu, an internationally recognized French designer, artist and creative director. He collaborated worldwide with big names in fashion such as Alexander Mcqueen or Vivienne Westwood, art and international artists such as Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey or Angèle. One of Charlie’s goals is definitely to continue a deep and modern exploration of the concept of beauty, body and gender. He creates heterogeneous forms of expression and design using hair.

From February 15, 2023, the mythical staircase of the Samaritaine is, for the first time, invested by an artist. Artificial and natural fibers transform it into a monumental and exclusive work named Tricophilia, and signed by Charlie Le Mindu.
The installation evolves, following the natural course of the season, from a raw state of blooming to the end, which is harvest. Through May each artwork will be enriched and undergo a process of change through the addition of plants and colors, until the end of harvest where each visitor can take home a small part of the work.
