DISCOVER THE KARL LAGERFELD SPRING/SUMMER 2020 CAMPAIGN

By Crash redaction

The Karl Lagerfeld house has just released the Spring/Summer 2020 campaign. Called « 21 rue Saint Guillaume », the campaign is styled by none other than Carine Roitfeld and takes inspiration from the address of the house’s headquarters in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. In this building lies the original office and studio of the legendary and missed Karl Lagerfeld, where he crafted all his collections throughout his career. Mariacarla Boscono, one of Lagerfeld’s muses, is the star of the campaign and confesses the shoot was an emotional one: « Shooting this campaign is emotional for me, as I was very close to Karl,” she says,  “I’ve done many shoots with him over the years, and we always laughed a lot. I have all those memories imprinted in my brain. I hope this campaign is a beautiful tribute to him, because everything I do now is with him in my mind. »

Many arty touches are visible here and there in the collection, with pieces screaming Bauhaus and Mondrian. Carine Roitfeld, style advisor for the house, explains: « Karl decided on the theme of this season before he passed; he loved the Bauhaus art movement. It’s all very Karl — very strict, very sober and very perfect. It’s everything that Karl liked. It’s simple but not boring. It’s streetwear with a touch of Parisian chic.”
