MIU MIU LETS THE COUTURE RACE BEGIN

By Crash

Last Saturday Miu Miu presented its 2020 cruise collection in a multi-dimensional event hosted at the Hippodrome d’Auteuil, where a series of chic events preceded a fashion show inspired by the world of horseback riding. In front of the huge green field of the racetrack, models graced an improvised runway; a wooden Art-Deco style podium made by Rem Koolhas. All the attributed of the jockey were reimagined in the collection, with bold shoulders, preppy blazers and gigot sleeves.

Guests were first treated to a race, then came the show and finally, an exquisite dinner was served followed by an afterparty. Horseback riding is undeniably the most aristocratic sport in the world and its codes stand almost unchanged since decades. The collection, by adopting this very polished and exclusive way of life, could be seen as a slight nod to the come back of the conservative style seen everywhere from the runway to Instagram these past seasons. The neo-bourgeois look is all the rage so it seems like the perfect timing to go back to the roots of the riches who ride their horses on the weekends and sip cocktails in colorful wide-brimmed hats.
