JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER HAUTE COUTURE IS BACK WITH A NEW CONCEPT

By Crash

At the last Paris Haute Couture week, all the fashion world was sad to witness legendary French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier’s last Haute Couture show, the end of an era for many fans of his work, the end of his unique vision which transcended the decades, blending extravagance and fantasy with fearless femininity. But news just hit this morning that Gaultier is already relaunching the house with a new and unexpected concept. Each season, he will invite a designer to interpret the codes of the house following a new, fresh and external vision. More and more brands are tapping into collaboration, which seems like the antidote to any routine or dull moment. Keeping it interesting with new creative minds seems like the best thing to do to relaunch an iconic house.

The first designer to participate in this exciting project is Sacai’s Chitose Abe who will present the Haute Couture collection next June. Jean-Paul Gaultier explained: « The idea of different designers interpreting one Haute Couture brand came to me in the nineties for a Parisian Haute Couture House who found itself without a designer. I am pleased that this concept will become reality now with Chitose Abe of Sacai as the first guest designer. I admire her work, we have many things in common creatively and share a similar vision of fashion. I am glad to give her the complete freedom. »
