RUINART AND EVA JOSPIN PRESENT: PROMENADE(S) EN CHAMPAGNE

By Martina Conte

Graduate of the Ecole Nationale de Beaux Arts de Paris, Eva Jospin has caught the attention of several brands in recent years with her architectural sculptures capable of an intimate and immersive world.
Jospin succeeds in depicting different dialogues through the use of her favorite material –  cardboard  creating not only monumental sculptures but also environments made from layered cartons, which are then meticulously shaped to represent metamorphoses and developments of different journeys.

The Champagne house Ruinart decided to collaborate with Eva in designing a limited edition that includes twenty-five boxes completely devised by the artist and a series of artworks also inspired by Maison Ruinart.
The work will be unveiled at the Carreau du Temple, in Paris, during an exhibition open to the public March 10-12, 2023. In Promenades en Champagne cardboard exclusively constitutes the works: high-reliefs, drawings and embroideries that blend perfectly in telling the story of the Maison. Within Ruinart’s quarries and vineyards, as in Jospin’s atelier, manual skill is the fundamental element that shapes the project; repetitive and precise craftsmanship, sometimes tricky but making each detail unique.

Maison Ruinart is not the only brand that has seen the potential in the artist’s work. Eva’s capacity for storytelling and immersiveness has led her creations to collaborate also twice with Dior and Maria Grazia Chiuri. The first work was for Dior Fall/Winter 2021-2022 Haute Couture show where the Rodin Museum took shape through the artist’s installation Silk Room. The second collaboration with the French Maison was for the Dior Spring/Summer 2023 prêt-à-porter show, where Jospin created real baroque-style enchanted caves, making the set design for the show an evolution of nature that blends perfectly with fashion and art.
Max Mara also collaborated with the Artist for their flagship store in Milan. Staying true to her main technique, using different layers of cardboards, Eva created the installation Microclima. The objective of the site-specific work is to reflect on a heterogeneous feeling and perception of the surrounding space. Jospin’s work was augmented in the reception of this sensation thanks to the work of perfumer Julien Rasquinet, who created a veritable olfactory sphere to accompany the journey through the artwork.
